“Fasting periods are part of my nature.
I cannot do without them any more than I can do without my eyes.
What the eyes are to the outer world, fasting is to the inner world.”

(Mahatma Gandhi – Indian ascetic)

What is therapeutic fasting?

Therapeutic fasting is one of the oldest naturopathic methods for cleansing the body, involving voluntarily abstaining from solid food for a limited period of time. The primary focus is not on radical weight loss, but on “healing,” the well-being of physical health and mental balance. Therapeutic fasting supports us and our bodies both preventively and therapeutically.

Sunday Arrival
Relaxation day

Guests arriving in the afternoon are advised to take the Klaubersalz for intestinal cleansing before 5:00 p.m.

In the evening, we serve a clear broth, as no solid food may be consumed after taking the Klaubersalz.

Guests who arrive late are served a light vegetable soup for dinner to prepare the body for fasting and relieve it. In this case, the Klaubersalz is taken directly the next morning.

Monday to Friday
Fasting days

During fasting days, no solid food is consumed. Instead, juices, teas, and broths are offered to provide the body with minimal calories and fluids. These days are crucial for the cleansing process.

Liquid fasting meals

  • Morning: Herbal tea, hot water with lemon
  • Lunch: Vegetable broth (clear broth without solids)
  • Afternoon: Freshly squeezed fruit or vegetable juice
  • Evening: Vegetable broth (clear broth without solids)
  • Between meals: Water and herbal tea (at least 2-3 liters per day)

On the third day, take Klaubersalz again (half a portion is sufficient). For some, sauerkraut juice is sufficient for this.

Saturday Set-up day
Example (breaking the fast)

After fasting, food is slowly reintroduced to gently accustom the digestive tract to solid food.

Light diet – small portions

  • Breakfast: Apple compote, herbal tea
  • Lunch: Steamed fish with vegetables, small portion of whole grain rice
  • Dinner: Vegetable soup, small salad
  • Drinks: Water, herbal tea

And on Sunday, after a light breakfast from the buffet, it’s time to leave.

Liver wrap

For the duration of your stay, you will be provided with a hot water bottle and kettle, which you can use to apply a liver wrap yourself as desired. We recommend doing this in the afternoon or evening before bedtime to support the liver in its active phase. The liver wrap promotes the detoxification process during the fasting cure. During the introductory information session, you will receive detailed instructions on how to use the liver wrap.

Kurärztin
Medical fasting support

Sunday is usually the start of our fasting week. Guests have a mandatory doctor’s appointment on Monday. Of course, the fasting week can also start on a Tuesday or Thursday. Doctor’s appointments are also possible on Wednesday and Friday. The plan is then shifted by the corresponding number of days, but the procedure itself remains the same.

Fasting support and nutritional advice

On the first day of the course (always Monday at 5:30 p.m.), our naturopath and osteopath Josephine Speiser will give you an informative introduction to the therapeutic fasting week. Josephine will also be happy to advise you and accompany you during your therapeutic fasting for a fee.
